Yep, this is friggin' GREAT NEWS. And I'm so excited to share with you, dear reader, a fantastic new organization that embraces this and is dedicated to bringing great sex to the entire universe through the power of organic family planning.
1Flesh.org is a non-profit organization empowering men, woman, and
couples to recognize the power of their fertility by promoting knowledge
of effective, natural, and healthy methods of avoiding or achieving
pregnancy. 1Flesh.org believes that natural methods of family
planning treat men and women with dignity, allowing them to effectively
family plan without risking their health. These methods are effective, healthy, natural, empowering, green, affordable, and--most importantly--sexy.
And, no, this isn't the ineffective Rhythm Method that your grandmother once told you about. No, no; science has advanced considerably in the last 10 decades. Natural Family Planning, when taught and understood correctly, is way easy and way effective. Plus, practicing NFP is like taking vitamins for your marriage.
Whether you get skooled on the Sympto-Thermal Method, the Creighton Model, the Billings Method, or something else, just remember: natural is better. That yucky contraception stuff is unhealthy, both physically and emotionally -- and I would say morally, too.
Since Michael and I believe in the mission of this organization, I was thrilled to have a chance to interview 1Flesh's president, Marie-Claire Bartmess. Here's what we talked about:
1Flesh
wants to introduce Natural Family Planning to men, women, and couples
and empower them to recognize the power of their fertility and promote
the knowledge to effectively, naturally, and healthily postpone
pregnancy.
2. Why would the general public be interested in the 1Flesh message?
Right
now, NFP, or Fertility Awareness as some call it, is “the best kept
secret of the Catholic Church.” Its not well promoted and understood.
Many men and women are dissatisfied with their current methods of
postponing pregnancy. Some are unhappy with the adverse health effects,
some with the financial burden, others the effectiveness, and the list
goes on. The general public, especially women, want options that respect
their body, their health, their relationships, and their values,
whatever those may be. NFP is that option.
3. Please tell us a little bit about yourself and your involvement with 1Flesh, Marie!
I
recently graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in
Environmental Design, which is a pre-architecture degree. I am getting
married to an amazing man this August in Austin, Texas.
I got
involved with 1flesh during my last year at Texas A&M University. I
had started charting for my upcoming marriage and the more I got into
learning Natural Family Planning the more in love with the method I
became. Additionally, I felt a deep sorrow for couples that did not
realize that natural methods of family planning were reasonably
available to them. At one point in time, I did not know about Natural
Family Planning as an effective means of postponing pregnancy, let alone
all the benefits.
I was bouncing around the idea of finding ways to advertise Natural
Family Planning to the general public when I was introduced to the Texas
A&M chapter of 1flesh. I have since then started helping 1flesh
with their overall tone and direction. Recently, I was asked to step up and act as president of 1flesh. I am humbled and honored to be in this position.
More and more doctors are signing The Statement. Details are at 1Flesh.org. |
4. What can people do to become a part of 1Flesh's mission? How can they learn more?
Those
that already use NFP should not be timid in giving their testimonials
and talking about the benefits that they particularly enjoy. There is no
pharmaceutical company or manufacturing company promoting NFP. NFP is
completely organic, so much so that the only way to let people know
about this amazing option in family planning is by word-of-mouth. 1Flesh
is a non-for-profit organization in the state of Virginia so donations
are more then welcome and tax benefits can be given.
