The other day, Shannon, my dear friend from high school, came to visit! We don't see each other much these days, since she now lives in North Carolina with her wonderful husband Marty. But it was such a delight to pick up right where we left off -- and to introduce her to Liam!
Shannon would be OK with me telling you that she's a self-professed, is-not-sure-she-likes-kids kind of girl. Things like childbirth, dirty diapers, snotty noses, loud noises, and trip-hazard toys deter her. Understandable.
But at the end our conversation about all of these messy things (and my full empathy on where she's coming from), she seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, and then this huge smile washed over her face which showed that if I can go from zero experience (having never babysat) to this, then anybody can. It's all by the grace of God.
And you know what she delighted most in? The fact that in this photo, Liam looks like hers. :) She said it, not me.
