I've come to realize that being a part of the Communion of Saints is like attending an everlasting cocktail party. But the lovelier thing is that neither a black dress nor a large costume ring is required, plus you don't have to worry about awkward chit-chat at the refreshment table.
Instead, the room turns out to be a place filled with joyful, soon-to-be friends who are all eager to breeze over in your direction.
You enter the party with one saint by your side, but you will soon be introduced to another. And she, in turn, will recommend you to a third. The fourth might introduce himself quite unexpectedly, but unbeknown to you, it was at the recommendation of another friend, who you will soon have in common.
Perhaps eventually you strike up a conversation with a shy and humble saint that at first didn't appear to be talking to many; but, before long, you've met her friends and her friends' friends!
Within a short amount of time, you get the great feeling that you know just about everybody in the room. They have all seemed to truly like you, and you suddenly realize that you can be 100% yourself around them.
In doing so, they will see all of your shortcomings. But they seem to already know your faults and seem to already love you as you are, and so you act yourself, allowing them to intercede in the conversation when you stumble across your words....and you have a marvelous time.
