El Camino de Santiago de Compostella

Dear Reader, I must share with you a beautiful pilgrimage that Michael made last month.

I am so proud of him for his dedication and hard work, and I am so thankful that he has the heart to seek such an experience while on his earthly walk with Our Lord.

He and his friend Ray flew to Spain to walk a long journey that would last a whole week!

They walked 100 kilometers (which is about 62 miles) on the French Route, beginning in a little town called Sarria.

Their destination:  The massive Cathedral of St. James the Apostle in Santiago, Spain, where this follower of Jesus' remains are kept in a special, ornate crypt.

In this jubilee year of 2010, the Catholic Church grants a plenary indulgence to all the faithful who make the pilgrimage, confess their sins, receive Jesus in the Eucharist, and pray for the pope, who is our Holy Father here on Earth.

At the end of his pilgrimage, Michael was exhausted, his feet bruised, swollen, and hurt.  He said his whole body ached, but all of it was worth it!

Here are some pictures that Ray took!  Sorry that they're out of order...
