Our Engaged Encounter Weekend

This past weekend, Michael and I put our wedding planning on hold and escaped away to a retreat!

The purpose of the retreat was to better prepare ourselves for the marriage sacrament by praying, communicating, and deciding upon certain values and traditions that we will hold as a couple.

My favorite part was writing our Betrothal Pledges to one another!  And my favorite prayer we prayed that weekend was called "These are the Hands" which our leader read aloud as we held and looked at each other's hands.  I will try to post the prayer later on!

The retreat was held at the Hilton Hotel, which was so lovely, clean, bright, and always bursting with yummy food for us!

The men had one wing of the hotel, and we girls had another. Each of us had a roommate of the same gender.  Michael's room was our assigned room in which to discuss issues privately during the conference.  They gave us a nice balance of having reflection time alone, reflection time together, and then opportunities to learn in a classroom setting along with other couples.

We met lots of other nice couples this weekend, and we finished the weekend with Mass, right there in the conference room.  It was very special!  Please continue to hold us in your prayers as we prepare for this special Sacrament!
