My Consecration Chain is Moved to My Ankle

This weekend on the Easter Vigil, I moved my Marian consecration chain to my ankle.

It had been on my wrist for a little over a year, but I wanted to move it to my ankle so that, on our wedding day, I could wear Michael's beautiful pearl bracelet on the same hand as my engagement ring.

I prayed about this decision for a long time before I finally made it.  I didn't want to remove my consecration chain altogether, but I also knew that to keep this rusty chain on my wrist for our wedding day would be similar to the Biblical parable that Jesus told of the guest who was thrown out of the wedding because he did not dress properly for it.

Jesus spoke so much to us about us being prepped and ready for the bridegroom (as he explained with the parable of the women with the oil lamps) that I could only hope that this move to my ankle would strike the perfect balance of commitment (to my consecration) and preparation (for the bridegroom).

Michael used pliers to unhook it from my wrist and transfer it to my ankle. We had to add 8 more links to my original 13, making the grand total 21.

I probably over-think things way too much, but I wanted to explain to you, dear Reader, why you wouldn't be noticing the chain on my wrist in upcoming photographs.  Not worry; it's just on my ankle now! :)
