A Rose in God's Garden

On Friday night, I had a great Skype conversation with a friend of mine who is a paraplegic. It was such an enjoyable conversation, so I certainly want to do again soon. He doesn't even realize it, but God has obviously called him to very, very great things. The size of the cross he carries is a testament to the fact that he has a very strong, courageous soul. It is exciting to know someone like that. In God's garden, some of us are called to be delicate violets and others are called to be tall, sturdy roses with thorns. Patrick is definitely one of the most beautiful roses I've ever seen.

On Saturday, my friend Greg came into town from New York City. We met up for dinner and then spent the evening Christmas shopping. I was outstandingly productive, finding gifts for everyone on my list (although this year my list is smaller than ever). I got a dress for the fancy tuxedo party I am going to on Tuesday night, and I was successfully strategic with my use of combined coupons. :-)

When I got home, I stayed up until 3:30 in the morning talking to a wonderful Catholic who inspired me greatly (to say the very, very least), and then--just as I was crawling into bed--one of my dearest, most special friends contacted me out-of-the-blue simply because he had suddenly woken up. It was if he had known that something significant had just happened and needed to be updated. We talked until 5:30 AM.

Why is it that lately some of my most significant conversations happen between the hours of midnight and 6 AM?
