On Wednesday night, I had my first meeting with my new spiritual director, Father John. He is a 51-year-old Irish Redemptorist from New York who was quite active in the overseas mission field before health issues caused him to settle down in the little parish of Our Mother of Perpetual Help.We began with prayer and confession, and then he asked for my life story. When we got to the present, he gave thoughtful attention to my 3-year Marian promise and the verse in the Bible that has presented itself to me 5 times since the end of March.
In the end, he told me that it would be prudent of me to consider buying my own home at this time, and that indeed buying a house may very well be putting down the metaphorical roots to which I am called.
We meet again next month, and he explained that I will have homework assignments. I am so looking forward to this spiritual growth!
