To Whom Thanks is Owed

Without expecting it, this week I happened to stumble upon the very man who I should thank for the roof which is over my head.

His name is Arthur Yeager, and he died in 1959. I should know more about the man to whom I write a check for $605 each month, but unfortunately I do not.

All I can imagine is that he must have been an upstanding individual who left a legacy of property ownership, making available to people like me many wonderful places to rent.

It is funny that I looked over and happened to spot his grave when I was walking past a graveyard on my way to church. I had no idea that he was even buried there. And it's quite timely that I should encounter him, because--as I consider the possibility of home ownership or at least the experience of making an offer on one--it seems right that I should first look back and appreciate the people who have helped me along the way.

Thank you, Mr. Yeager! May you be enjoying Heaven right now!
