Last night I made 6 new friends and connected with 2 old ones. But none of them are on Facebook! So what do I do? It is as if I have forgotten how to maintain friendships, sans Facebook.I had gone to Theology on Tap at St. Leo's last night, a wonderful concept which mixes free beverages and food with discussions about our faith. The bishop was present to answer any and all questions that people in their 20's and 30's could generate.
I asked about temporal punishment and how it can be mitigated by partial and plenary indulgences, but later I realized that I should have asked why our diocese uses "extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist" in everyday, ordinary means (when the position was created only for those rare moments when a priest was unable to give out communion).
Afterward, I was invited to join a group of friends back at Kelly & Mark's beautiful home. In what was dubbed the "courting room," we sat and sipped tea and munched cookies until about midnight, all the while talking about our faith. It was awesome.
Then I drove to my dear friend Dominic's house, where he hooked me up with discount tickets to his band's show next weekend. The Josh Albright Band truly is awesome, so if you have the chance to check them out, you should!
I felt myself getting sick, so by 1 AM, I departed, and by 2 I was in bed, pink and cozy from a hot shower.
Then this morning I awoke, walked across the street to church, and--at a 6th grade Scripture Summit--put on a one-person play about the Blessed Mother! I was terrified at first because I didn't receive from the director the 15 Bible verses I was to teach about until 45 minutes before my start time. My blue veil kept falling off and my nose kept running, but thankfully all went well, considering!
The check I received was disproportionally huge for what I did, so I promptly returned it. Being Our Lady for an afternoon was honor enough!
