Smothering My Girl with Affection
I absolutely ADORE my MacyBaby. I spoil her every chance I get. When I come home from work, I instantly drop all of my bags, get down on my knees, and shower her with hugs and kisses.
I ask about her doggie day, inquire about the taste of her dog food, ask about the clarity of the water in her bowl, and I remind her that the softness of her fur coat is second to none.
If her pillow has slipped out from beneath her head, I will gently put it back again. She looks up at me with these loving eyes, and I know that I am everything to her.
My simple dog is so...little in this great big world. She is so innocent, so trusting, so absolutely content with me and this little life that we share together. I can feel my blood pressure instantly drop when I lay next to her at the end of a school day. Ahh...true relaxation.
Fifteen minutes will pass before I get up again.
That's probably why she has such good behavior and doesn't jump up on people. She doesn't have to. I get down on her level and smother her with affection. She gets way more love than the average dog!
I'm making up for lost time, remember. My beloved MacyBottom was a breeding dog who lived in a puppy mill shed for 6.5 years, getting pregnant every time she was fertile -- and never getting the opportunity to go to the bathroom outside in the fresh air.
Oh, Lord, let me savor every second with this creature of yours while she is here on Earth. May I always give her the best treatment. And, God, bless the people who have not yet experienced the utter devotion that comes from the companionship of a dog. There is absolutely nothing else in this world quite like it.
