This past weekend, Michael, Liam, and I traveled to Maryland to spend time with our dear friends Britta and Steve -- and their adorable sons, Xavier and Luke.
Their home was a happy abode of Advent cheer, and their Christmas tree sparkled!
They had a roaring fire going for us, and we adults enjoyed passing the kids around, savoring our present, and dreaming of a future where, perhaps one day, God will have us all living near one another in the same neighborhood, which--they explained, as they proudly endorsed their town--is currently bubbling with young Catholic families. Sounds good to us!
We ordered a pizza, admired Britta's newest religious icon creations, watched Xavier open (and close and open and close and open) door #1 of their beautiful Advent calendar, and laughed together at the fun foibles of this vocation called parenthood. It was a wonderful night!
