The Day of Four Popes

Today is such a HUGE day for our Church!

We've acknowledged the sainthood of two incredible popes, Good John XXIII and John Paul II!  The first is credited with the formation of the Second Vatican Council, which resulted in many modernized changes, like the mass being said in local languages instead of just Latin.

The second man is credited with so many beautiful things (like the publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church), but my favorite is his writings on the dignity of the human person and sexuality, which has become known as the Theology of the Body!  His writings have shaped my life's view and my marriage!

Today's events are unprecedented in this history of our Church.  Two popes (our current Pope Francis and Pope Emeritus Benedict) will be present to witness the canonization of two other popes.  So it is truly the day of four popes!  Haha.

So many of my friends are over there right now, posting pictures on Facebook with their phones.  Oh, how my heart is in Roma today!

And guess what else!  With it being Divine Mercy Sunday, all of us are eligible for a plenary indulgence if we go to confession, receive the Eucharist, and pray for the intentions of the pope within 8 days of the feast.  It's a beautiful day!
