There is a phenomenon happening in my wardrobe that I can't quite explain. My undergarments--at least that which I wear on my lower half--are systematically disappearing.
The process has been so gradual that I can't be sure of when it actually started, although I would guess that it began several months ago. The amount I had surely used to be double what I have now, and I can't figure out where they've run off to.
I'm a girl with good values, so don't think for a second that I inadvertently left them at anybody's place.
I've checked behind the washing machine, in the dryer vent, in my pile of cleaning rags, in my laundry baskets, and everywhere else I can possibly think of. Their disappearance is unexplainable.
At first, I thought my suspicions where bogus. True, I found myself constantly running out of pairs and needing to do wash in order to recycle the ones I had, but I thought that perhaps I was just under the misconception that I had more, when perhaps the reality was just that my supply was quite limited.
Or had I damaged more than I had realized with my monthly inconvenience? I vaguely recalled my washer once unraveling and destroying a pair altogether; had it happened to more pairs than I knew?
It wasn't until one of my favorite pairs jetted that I was able to confirm my suspicions and acknowledge that indeed I had a problem on my hands. Where were they all going? To the national Underwear Convention or something?
Finally, I told Mom. What an odd situation to explain to your mother! But moms have amazing powers of intuition, and she knew right away where I should look for them.
And when I did, she was precisely right. Wanna guess where they had all been collecting and hiding out?
