This weekend I made my first crock pot meal! And I think the crock pot is now my new best friend. :)
Since traveling between three different states would be necessary for us over the Thanksgiving weekend, I knew that I needed to prepare something simple and hearty for Sunday night's dinner, since our bellies would be hungry once all the traveling was over!
Left over from a Black Friday sale, a perfectly-sized, cute white crock pot was sitting by its lonesome on the shelf at Target for only $8.99. It was the last of its kind.
So, on Saturday afternoon, I brought it home with glee, then searched the Internet for a yummy crock pot recipe. And I found something! I decided to try my hand at making Pork Roast with Apples, Onions, Rosemary, and Sage.
I gathered the ingredients that night; tenderized, seasoned, and browned the meat in a skillet; placed everything into the crock; and put the crock in the refrigerator. Early the next morning, I plugged it in, asked Macy to keep watch over it, and jetted out of the house.
I realize now that this probably wasn't the smartest thing to do. The first time a girl uses an appliance, she should probably stick by it, lest it malfunction during its debut and do something haphazard and unexpected. Fortunately, though, my little crock pot has a pleasant disposition and wasn't disruptive at all. It can be trusted!
When we got back, the place smelled wonderful and the meal was delicious! The pork loin was so tender that a knife was not even necessary. The onions were sweet, the apples were soft, and the rosemary and sage gave the perfect seasoning for this festive time of year! I love how rosemary looks like Christmas tree branches. :)
