This past Friday night's Catholic Speed Dating Party was a great success! We raised $500 in donations for relief efforts in Haiti. And 42 matches were made!
The night began with our guest speaker, Mrs. Andrea Ostrowski. She spoke to us about the difference between dating and courtship. She spoke about how to prepare for the vocation of marriage. And she spoke to us about its sacredness! What a beautiful tone she set for the evening. We all left feeling inspired!
Then we moved our guests into a larger hall for the actual speed dating portion. Each couple had a table to sit at, which was decorated with a candle and rose petals. Guests had only 5 minutes to chat and discern whether or not they'd be open to going on a first date with the person who sat across from them. The night was over when everyone met every person of the opposite gender.
Many people came up and thanked me before leaving! Several people told me that this type of event was the answer to many years of prayer! And most people told me that they were pleasantly surprised by the night and that it exceeded their expectations. Wow!
All feedback was kept confidential, so persons walked away that night uncertain of who their matches were. This week I will be emailing our guests to let them know whose "yes" matched their own!
Pray for only God's will to be done with all of these wonderful people. What a blessing it would be if at least one good Catholic marriage came from this!
