Our Next Featured Sponsor: Marjorie Jones of MJ Photography!

Here's Marjorie and her cute little family!
Today I'm excited to introduce to you our next featured sponsor, Marjorie Jones of MJ Photography

Marjorie has an impeccable and natural talent for photography.  She has an eye for noticing details, and she even catches little precious moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.  Marjorie has the ability to work in a variety of settings, whether it be a wedding day or a newborn photo shoot.

I love Marjorie's talent so much so that, two years ago, I begged my family to please hire her as our wedding photographer!!  And I am so glad we did.  The results were everything I had dreamed they would be!

Thank you, Marjorie!

So let's get right down to it and learn more about this talented woman.  Here are my interview questions and her responses:

1. First, please tell us a little bit about yourself and your family!

Hi! I'm Marjorie Jones, and I'm a wife and mom to three. I'm a natural-light photographer, focusing on babies, children, and family. I take a few weddings, as well, each year.

2. Next, tell us how your business came to be!  Who inspired you?  How did your talents develop?
My kids inspired me! I wasn't satisfied with the photos of my firstborn at the major photography "chains." I decided I wanted better, so I began to pursue my childhood passion of taking photos. Over the last 5 years, I have spent countless hours learning and studying photography. I'm still learning and constantly trying to improve!

3. What difficulties did you have to overcome in order to be at the point where you are today?  In other words, what or who helped you to “keep on keeping on”?

Not valuing myself and the worth of my work. When I was just starting out, my prices were too low. I didn't feel confident enough to charge what I was worth. This led to clients not respecting my work or time. I changed my prices and policies and asked more of clients, and in return they came to respect and value me.

4. Lastly, what is most rewarding about your business?
The most rewarding aspect for me is the reaction I get from clients when they see their photos. I've been told, "You gave us memories that will last a lifetime," and "You've captured my child's personality so perfectly." Recently, someone viewing my children portraiture told me, "It's like you can see into children's souls." Those words are so encouraging to me.
